monday.com pricing per user: seat buckets and real team costs
monday.com lists a price per seat, but you can't buy any seat count you like. Its help center says plans start at 3 seats and go up in steps of 5. A team of 6 pays for 10 seats. That rule changes the real cost per person more than the plan you pick.
This guide shows the per-seat prices from monday.com's pricing page on October 18, 2026, the seat buckets, what teams of different sizes pay, and how the per-user cost compares with Asana, Trello, ClickUp, and Airtable. Live data for this vendor is on the monday.com pricing page on SaaS Price Watch.
monday work management: price per seat
These are the prices for monday work management, the main product. Prices are per seat, per month.
| Plan | Yearly billing | Monthly billing | AI credits a month (10-seat view) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, up to 2 seats | $0 | none |
| Basic | $9 | $12 | 1,000 |
| Standard | $12 | $14 | 2,000 |
| Pro | $19 | $24 | 3,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Custom quote | Custom |
The page opens on a 10-seat team, and its Monthly toggle shows totals of $120, $140, and $240 a month for Basic, Standard, and Pro. The FAQ says the yearly plan comes with an 18% discount, and that a yearly plan is paid up front in one payment. monday.com notes that prices exclude tax and depend on your billing country.
The AI credits show up on each card as a line item ($10, $20, or $30 for the 10-seat view), and the page takes the same amount off as a "special monthly discount." The total stays at the seat price.
How the seat buckets work
The monday.com help center calls this "bucket pricing." In its words: "Our pricing plans start at a minimum of 3 seats, and then ascend in multiples of 5." It gives two examples: a team of 4 picks the 5-seat option, and a team of 6 needs the 10-seat plan.
Two more rules from the same sources:
- Over 40 users: the pricing FAQ says you request a quote.
- You can't pick fewer seats than you use. The help center says seat options below your active user count are greyed out at checkout. Deactivate users first.
Viewers are free on Basic and up ("Unlimited free viewers"), and guest seats count in a different way. If some people need to look but not edit, make them viewers.
What a team pays on monday work management
Monthly cost on yearly billing, at each seat bucket (per-seat price times seats):
| Seats | Basic | Standard | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | $27 | $36 | $57 |
| 5 | $45 | $60 | $95 |
| 10 | $90 | $120 | $190 |
| 15 | $135 | $180 | $285 |
| 20 | $180 | $240 | $380 |
| 30 | $270 | $360 | $570 |
| 40 | $360 | $480 | $760 |
For a year on Standard with 10 seats, yearly billing comes to $1,440, paid up front. The same 10 seats on monthly billing cost $140 a month, or $1,680 over 12 months.
The real cost per user
Divide the bucket total by the people who use it. On Standard ($12 a seat on yearly billing):
- 4 people buy 5 seats: $60 a month, or $15 per person.
- 6 people buy 10 seats: $120 a month, or $20 per person.
- 11 people buy 15 seats: $180 a month, or $16.36 per person.
A team that sits one person past a bucket line pays the most per head. If you have 6 people, the 4 empty seats are paid for, so plan to fill them.
Per user vs Asana, Trello, ClickUp, and Airtable
This table prices a team of 6 on each tool's entry paid plan, yearly billing, from each pricing page on October 18, 2026.
| Tool and plan | Listed price per user | Seats billed for 6 people | Monthly total | Cost per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| monday.com Basic | $9 a seat | 10 | $90 | $15 |
| Asana Starter | $10.99 per user | 10 | $109.90 | $18.32 |
| Trello Standard | $5 per user | 6 | $30 | $5 |
| ClickUp Unlimited | $7 per user | 6 | $42 | $7 |
| Airtable Team | $20 per user | 6 | $120 | $20 |
Asana sells seats in steps, like monday.com. Its pricing FAQ says that between 2 and 5 users you add seats one at a time, and up to 30 users you add them in increments of 5. So 6 people on Asana pay for 10 seats. We found no seat bundle rule on the Trello, ClickUp, or Airtable pricing pages. ClickUp's FAQ says an upgrade covers your entire Workspace, which means all members.
The plans in the table do not match feature for feature. Trello is built around boards and cards, and Airtable is a database app. Compare the features you need first, and the price second. Other monday.com products
monday.com sells CRM, dev, and service as separate products with their own seat prices. On yearly billing, per seat per month:
| Product | Basic | Standard | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| monday CRM | $12 | $17 | $28 |
| monday dev | $9 | $12 | $20 |
| monday service | none | $31 | $45 |
The CRM section of the page shows a "SAVE 33%" label on yearly billing and lists higher crossed-out prices ($18, $25, and $41). The help center says you can bundle products, each on its own plan and seat count, but all products in a bundle must share the same billing cycle.
Trial, refunds, and changes
- Trial: the FAQ lists a 14-day free trial of the Pro plan for work management, CRM, and dev.
- Refunds: if you paid for a yearly plan in the last 30 days and cancel, the FAQ says you get a partial refund of the remaining balance. After that window, it offers no refunds for downgrades.
- Price changes: SaaS Price Watch re-checks the monday.com pricing page each week. See recent price changes, or set up price alerts to get an email when a plan price moves.
