Amazon Polly charges per character of text you turn into speech. Standard voices cost $4.00 per million characters. Neural voices cost $16.00, Generative $30, and Long-Form $100.00. Figures come from the Amazon Polly pricing page on October 27, 2026. We do not track Amazon Polly on SaaS Price Watch yet.

The Standard free tier line carries no 12-month limit on the page. The other three do. In AWS GovCloud, Standard costs $4.80 and Neural $19.20 per million characters.
The free tier conflict
A note on the same page says new AWS customers from July 15, 2025 get up to $200 in Free Tier credits. It says the free plan lasts 6 months after account creation. That does not match the 12-month wording in the free tier lines. We do not resolve it.
Cost per minute of audio
AWS says 1 million characters makes about 23 hours 8 minutes of speech. That is about 1,388 minutes.

We do not list a separate Speech Marks price. The price lines cover speech or Speech Marks requests at the same per-character rate. We do not list GovCloud prices for Generative or Long-Form voices.
