Linode price increase 2023: Shared and Dedicated plans up 20%
Akamai raised prices for Linode compute on April 1, 2023, after it bought Linode. Shared CPU and Dedicated CPU plans went up 20%. The 2GB Shared plan went from $10 to $12 a month, and the 4GB plan went from $20 to $24. The $5 Nanode did not change. Extra IPv4 addresses went from $1 to $2 a month, and egress overage fell from $0.01 to $0.005 per GB. We do not track Linode on SaaS Price Watch yet. More vendors are on the vendor list.

Over a year, a 4GB Shared plan went from $240 to $288. A 16GB Dedicated plan went from $1,440 to $1,728.
What Akamai said
The Akamai post says: "The price of Shared and Dedicated compute plans will increase by 20%. Our shared Nanode plan remains unchanged at US$5 per month." It adds: "Additional IPv4 IP addresses will increase from US$1 to US$2 per month. IPv6 addresses remain free."
On timing: "The new pricing will go into effect on April 1, 2023."
Who it hits and when
- Shared CPU and Dedicated CPU customers, new and existing, from April 1, 2023.
- Nanode users saw no change at $5 a month.
- Users with extra IPv4 addresses pay $2 a month per address.
- Users with high egress pay less for overage, $0.005 per GB.
- We do not list High Memory or GPU plans here. The notice did not include them in the increase.
What to do before your renewal
Linode bills by the hour with a monthly cap, so there is no renewal date. The new price applies to the next bill.
- List your Linodes and their plans in Cloud Manager.
- Check if a small server fits on the $5 Nanode, which did not change.
- Remove extra IPv4 addresses you do not need. Use IPv6 where you can, since it stays free.
