What Bitwarden said
From the announcement: "Premium for individuals is now available at $1.65 per month, billed annually at $19.80 a year. The Families plan is available at $3.99 per month, billed annually at $47.88 a year for up to six users."
Bitwarden tied the change to new Premium features: vault health alerts, password coaching, 5 GB of attachment storage (5x the old limit), up to 10 security keys for two-step login, and a phishing blocker that Bitwarden lists as on the way.
Who it hits and when
- Current subscribers get a 15-day notice before their next renewal date. The new price applies at that renewal.
- Existing Premium subscribers get a one-time 25% loyalty discount on the first renewal. On $19.80 that is $14.85, or $4.85 more than the old $10. The year after, the full $19.80 applies.
- Some Families 2019 customers get the same one-time 25% discount ($35.91 on $47.88). Families 2019 members who paid for Premium on top are moved to the current Families plan, and the extra Premium subscriptions do not renew.
- Free users keep unlimited logins on unlimited devices and a free 2-person organization for sharing.
The announcement covers Premium and Families. It does not mention the Teams or Enterprise business plans.
What to do before your renewal
- Check your renewal date in the Bitwarden web vault under Settings, Subscription.
- If two people in your home pay for Premium, compare: 2 x $19.80 is $39.60, close to one Families plan at $47.88 that covers 6 users.
- If you store logins and passkeys and need nothing else, the free plan covers unlimited logins on unlimited devices.
