Shopify price increase 2023: Basic, Shopify, and Advanced went up
Shopify raised the prices of its Basic, Shopify, and Advanced plans in 2023. On monthly billing, Basic went from $29 to $39 a month, Shopify from $79 to $105, and Advanced from $299 to $399. New merchants paid the new prices from January 24, 2023. Existing merchants moved to them on April 23, 2023. Old and new prices

The new yearly billing price is the same as the old monthly price on each plan.
Over a year on monthly billing, Basic went from $348 to $468, which is $120 more. Shopify went from $948 to $1,260. On yearly billing, Basic went from $312 to $348 a year ($36 more), Shopify from $852 to $948 ($96 more), and Advanced from $3,192 to $3,588 ($396 more).
Old prices come from an archived copy of the pricing page from January 16, 2023. New prices come from an archived copy from February 10, 2023.
What Shopify said
The post says the price "has remained largely unchanged for the last 12 years." It gives the timing: "Existing merchants won't see a price change for three months. The updated pricing is now in effect for new merchants."
It offered one way to keep the old price: "Switch from monthly to yearly terms to keep your current monthly price before new prices take effect on April 23, 2023."
Who it hits and when
- New merchants paid the new prices from January 24, 2023.
- Existing merchants moved to the new prices on April 23, 2023.
- Existing merchants who switched to yearly terms before April 23, 2023 kept their monthly price for the yearly term, per the post.

- Check your plan and billing cycle in Shopify admin under Settings, Plan.
- Compare monthly and yearly billing on your plan. In 2023, yearly billing on Basic cost $120 less a year than monthly billing.
- Check which apps and staff accounts you need before you move up a plan.
