ElevenLabs credits explained
Every ElevenLabs plan comes with a monthly pool of credits. All products draw from that one pool. This guide covers credits per plan, the cost of a credit, what each product uses, and how reset and rollover work. Figures come from the ElevenLabs pricing page on October 24, 2026. The last column is our math: price divided by thousands of credits. On Starter one credit costs $0.0002.
Cost per character
For speech, one text character costs one credit on the V2 Multilingual models. The FAQ says V2 Flash/Turbo English and V2.5 Flash/Turbo Multilingual cost 0.5 to 1 credit per character on the API. So a character costs the same as a credit on your plan, or up to half that on Flash and Turbo.

When credits reset
Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. The cycle starts on the day you subscribed, not on the first of the month.
Rollover
Unused credits roll over for up to two months, up to 2 times your monthly quota. Your balance can reach 3 times your quota. On Creator that cap is 363,000 credits.
Rollover has rules:
- You need an active paid plan.
- Downgrading or cancelling forfeits unused credits at the end of the cycle.
- The Free plan gets no rollover.
- Pay-as-you-go top-up credits sit outside the rollover cap.
- If you upgrade, unused credits roll into the next cycle.
Credits or API dollars
API usage is billed in US dollars, not credits. Text to Speech on the API costs $0.08 per 1,000 characters on v4 and $0.04 on Flash or Turbo. Through plan credits, 1,000 characters cost $0.17 to $0.20. See ElevenLabs API pricing for the full rate card.
