Gusto price increase 2025: the Simple plan goes from $40 to $49 a month
Gusto raised the base price of its Simple payroll plan from $40 to $49 a month in early 2025. That is $9 more a month, a 22.5% rise on the base fee. The per person fee stayed at $6 a month. The Plus and Premium plans kept their prices on the pricing page. Gusto did not publish a notice, so we date the change from copies of the pricing page on the Wayback Machine. We do not track Gusto on SaaS Price Watch yet. More vendors are on the vendor list.

These are list prices. Gusto ran promo prices on some plans at times. The table leaves those out.
For a company with 10 people on Simple, the monthly bill went from $100 to $109. That is $40 plus $60 before, and $49 plus $60 after. Per year it went from $1,200 to $1,308, $108 more.
What the pricing page shows in October 2026
On October 26, 2026, we read the live Gusto pricing page in a browser. It showed a new layout and different prices for some plans than the October 9, 2026 copy. Gusto blocks automated fetches of the page and has posted no notice of a change. We could not confirm those prices on a page we can fetch, so we withhold them. We will update this guide when a source we can cite shows them.
What Gusto said
Gusto did not publish an announcement for the 2025 Simple change that we could find. The pricing page states each plan as a base price "/mo plus" a price "/mo per person." Priority support costs extra on Simple and Plus. The October 2026 copy lists it at $30/mo plus $3/mo per person.
Who it hits and when
- New Simple customers saw the $49 base price on the pricing page by April 10, 2025.
- Existing Simple customers should check their invoices. Gusto has not said when existing accounts moved to the new price, so we withhold that date.
- Plus and Premium customers saw no list price change in 2025 on the pricing page.
- Contractor accounts have a separate plan with its own price.

- Open the billing section of your Gusto account and check your plan and current price.
- Count the people you pay each month. The per person fee grows with your team.
- Compare Simple and Plus for your team size. Plus adds features but costs more per person.
- Check if you pay for add-ons like priority support that you do not use.
- Save a copy of your current invoice, so you can spot the next change.
