Backblaze raised B2 Cloud Storage pay-as-you-go storage from $6 to $6.95 per TB a month on May 1, 2026. On the same date, API calls in Class A, B, and C became free for pay-as-you-go customers. Committed contracts keep their price until renewal. B2 Overdrive and B2 Reserve did not change. We do not track Backblaze on SaaS Price Watch yet. The figures come from the Backblaze blog and pricing page.

Old and new prices

Item Before May 1, 2026 From May 1, 2026
Pay-as-you-go storage $6 per TB a month $6.95 per TB a month
Class A calls Free Free
Class B calls Free for the first 2,500 a day, then $0.0004 per 1,000 Free
Class C calls Free for the first 2,500 a day, then $0.004 per 1,000 Free
Class D calls not listed $0.004 per 10,000, first 2,500 a day free
B2 Overdrive Same price (Backblaze says unchanged) Starts at $15 per TB a month

Our math: storage rises $0.95 per TB a month, about 16%. 10 TB goes from $60 to $69.50 a month, $9.50 more, or $114 more a year. 100 TB goes from $600 to $695 a month, $95 more. If you made 10 million billable Class C calls a month under the old rates, that cost $40 a month. Those calls are now free, which can offset part of the storage rise.

What Backblaze said

On March 17, 2026 Backblaze wrote "Storage price: Also effective May 1, we are updating pricing from $6/TB to $6.95/TB." It wrote "Effective May 1, we're making API calls free for all B2 Cloud Storage customers." It added "Pricing on existing committed contracts will not change until renewal, and pricing for B2 Overdrive and B2 Reserve will remain the same." In its FAQ it wrote "New committed contracts will start at $6.95/TB."

Who it hits and when

Pay-as-you-go B2 customers pay $6.95 per TB a month from May 1, 2026. Committed contract customers keep their rate until renewal. New committed contracts start at $6.95 per TB. B2 Overdrive and B2 Reserve customers see no price change. Customers with many Class B or Class C calls may pay less overall, since those calls are now free.

What to do before your next bill

  1. Check how many TB you store and your last three invoices.
  2. Add up what you paid for Class B and Class C calls before May 1. That amount is gone from your bill now.
  3. If you hold a committed contract, check your renewal date and the price on renewal.
  4. Compare B2 Reserve if you store a large and steady amount.

What we withhold

We do not publish B2 Reserve prices. We did not find them on the pricing page. We do not publish Event Notifications fees. Backblaze says fees apply for that feature.
